Broadway for Teens
Introduced in 2023, Broadway for Teens is a new educational and outreach program committed to excellence in the arts for New Mexico’s teens. This program serves a select number of New Mexico Title I public high school students each season, providing them an opportunity to experience a Broadway show live in Popejoy Hall as well as explore a flagship university campus.
Application Process
Students are selected for this opportunity through an application process. Applications require a one-page letter of interest written by a student of the school applying, which must be endorsed by both a teacher and a school administrator.
Applications are reviewed by a committee organized by Popejoy Hall. Schools will be contacted for confirmation of participation before a public announcement is made. On average, up to 40 students from six schools will receive tickets to a Broadway in New Mexico Series performance. Tickets are provided for up to five chaperones to accompany the students to the show.
The Broadway show selected for Broadway for Teens groups changes each season and is dependent on the Broadway in New Mexico Series lineup, seating availability, dates, and potential curriculum connections. 2022-2023 season Broadway for Teens participants viewed a performance of HAMILTON, while 2023-2024 participants attended a performance of Disney’s THE LION KING. The 2024-2025 Broadway for Teens program will attend a performance of CLUE in November 2024.
The schools selected must provide busing to Popejoy Hall. Students will be seated in assigned seats in the Popejoy Hall audience. This opportunity does not include meeting or interacting with the show’s cast or crew.

Only New Mexico schools that receive Title I funding are eligible for this opportunity. We encourage other school groups interested in attending a Broadway performance at Popejoy Hall to contact our Group Sales representative for information on group discounts.
