Mariachi Christmas

Celebrate the season with a New Mexico tradition: Mariachi Christmas! Experience whirling skirts, festive violins, and bright horns in this holiday performance of folk music and dance. Back for an incredible 19th year and featuring two groups from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Mariachi Aztlan and Ballet Folklorico, it simply isn’t the holidays in New Mexico without Mariachi Christmas.

   


 A Christmas Carol

Gather ’round for a retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol. A series of ghosts visit miserly businessman Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas Eve, changing his outlook on life. In this charming adaptation, star and adapter Scott H. Severance is joined onstage by a talented ensemble cast clad in Victorian costumes, and singing traditional carols.

  

 


Pilobolus

The legendary dance group Pilobolus returns to Popejoy with their most inventive and memorable dances. Featuring signature lifts and contortions that seem to suspend gravity, Pilobolus explores the human experience through dance. With humor, sensitivity, and great beauty, Pilobolus’ sequences explore the themes of love, loss, and play.

 

   


Russian National Ballet Theatre: Swan Lake

Young Prince Siegfried witnesses a swan transform into a beautiful woman in this tale of dark magic and soaring love. Performed by the Russian National Ballet Theatre to Tchaikovsky’s original score, this production of Swan Lake draws from the rich tradition of Russian ballet. Under the direction of Elena Radchenko, a former head dancer, this elegant ballet comes to life.

 


The Peking Acrobats

Audience favorite, The Peking Acrobats return to Popejoy in their 31st year of touring. With human pyramids, contortions, and spinning plates, the company members perform both traditional and new acts, set to a live traditional Chinese orchestra. In a show for all ages, these incredible performers showcase awe-inspiring feats of courage and skill.

  


Mummenschanz

The revolutionary mime group Mummenschanz brings their original new show, you & me, to Popejoy. Featuring characters of different shapes and sizes, you & me explores the theme of human communication without uttering a word. In the show The New York Times calls, “Witty madness...dazzling and delightful,” Mummenschanz reveals the raw power of visual performance.

 

 


Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery

In one of their most famous cases, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson investigate a series of deaths at the Baskerville estate. Celebrated playwright Ken Ludwig captures the wit and intrigue of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, with a humorous twist. America’s longest running company, The Walnut Street Theatre, stages this classic whodunit with five actors playing the story’s 40 characters.

 


The TEN Tenors

The TEN Tenors return with an incredible repertoire for an exciting and heartfelt performance. Their new show, Wish You Were Here, celebrates musical legends including Amy Winehouse, John Lennon, and Michael Jackson. Australia’s “vocal wonder from down under” will take you on a feel-good journey through some of the world’s greatest hits of all time, including classic rock anthems, current day chart toppers, and soaring arias of Verdi and more.

 


Gobsmacked!

An inventive a cappella show, Gobsmacked! redefines what is possible with the human voice. Featuring the reigning world champion beatboxer Ball-Zee, and an international cast of outstanding vocalists, this show weaves together street corner harmonies and complex rhythms. Performing totally a cappella arrangements of pop favorites, Gobsmacked! is brimming with energy and talent.

 


Celtic Nights

Audience favorite Celtic Nights returns with their new show, Oceans of Hope, an ode to the indestructible spirit of Irish immigrants. Performing everything from lively jigs to homesick lullabies, the show honors the spirit of those who forged new lives in America, Australia, and Canada, despite financial hardship and discrimination. In a warm-hearted celebration of Irish music and dance, Oceans of Hope strikes gold.

 


Live in Central Park [Revisited]: Simon and Garfunkel

In 1981, more than 500,000 music fans gathered in Central Park to hear the century’s greatest folk/rock duo, Simon and Garfunkel. Award-winning recording artists Lee Lessack and Johnny Rodgers recreate that night, and Simon and Garfunkel’s dulcet harmonies and lilting guitar. The show includes favorites such as, “Mrs. Robinson,” “Homeward Bound,” “Scarborough Fair,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “The Sound of Silence,” and many more.

 

 


TAO: Drum Heart

Twenty-seven TAO drummers take the stage in this spectacular tour de force, Drum Heart. After years of strenuous training in both traditional Japanese drumming and martial arts, TAO drummers meld fighting precision with fiery rhythm.
